Chigwell 2-5 Ryan U12 Red

Ryan visited the leaders knowing a victory was a must if they had any chances of the title, and despite a sluggish start put in a worthy display to inflict Chigwell’s first league defeat in two seasons.

The game started a little scrappy and neither side were able to create many good chances in the opening minutes, and Ryan knowing they had the pace to cause the home side trouble could nOt find the right balls. Ryan gradually started to find there feet, and after Howard had gone close after rounding the keeper only to mis-kick a good shot from Chris was saved by the keeper but he could not hold it and Lamin reacted the quickest to slot home. Ryan however could not keep the lead, and shortly after making a good block Daniel somehow let a dribbler under his body to level the scores. Just before half time, Howard made up for his earlier miss to successfully round the keeper after being put through to put the Ryan back in front.

A good half time chat and Ryan knew if they could pass the ball better the game was there for the taking, and in the second half played some good football, and were starting to create the space and utilise the extra pace they had. Howard was played in again and again rounded the keeper to slot into an open net. A fourth quickly followed from Lamin after some tenacious work from Astron to keep the ball alive in the penalty area, and Ryan were starting to enjoy themselves. The defending had improved from previous weeks, and the talking was evident, which made us more compact, and Ryan scored there fifth after a lovely two touch passing move involving 5 players ended with Chris putting Josh in to slot under the advancing keeper. Chigwell scored a second from a penalty in the closing minutes to end the scoring.
